After some run-ins with the Health Department and quite a number of hilarious one-star Yelp reviews. The cities self-described “Earthly Grill” first opened the Valencia flagship in1997 and is thus one of the city’s longest running vegan-onlyestablishments — several of which have either closed or decamped to theEast Bay in the last year.
Because of the noted drop in quality of the restaurants, the Mission is left with Gracias Madre, Shizen, and Indochine as destinations for vegan-only menus. Which is very upsetting to say the least.
One Yelper agreed to the inevitable fail of the eateries demise, “Herbivore is a place I go out of desperation, especially the original Valencia location which is the worse of the two.” And apparently, wasn’t even that vegan — “I know that Vegan’s do not use dairy or animal bi products in their food.”
