Queen Elizabeth II’s husband Prince Philip hospitalized. The elderly royal has had his battles with his health over the last couple of years and the publish hopes for a speedy recovery.
The royals have been the backbone of the British Empire, holding up centuries of traditions and pride for the British people. The Queen was forced to step up and serve her country when her father suddenly passed and has been the face of her nation. She married Prince Phillip in 1947 who was a Greek prince and four children, three sons, and a daughter. She has reigned with her husband by her side for the past 67 years and would not imagine it any other way. The duke is the longest-serving consort of a reigning royal in British history.
On December 20th, Prince Phillip was hospitalized due to precautionary measures. According to Us Weekly, the Duke of Edinburg traveled from Norfolk this morning to London to check into the King Edward VII hospital for observation. The check-in was for a pre-existing condition according to Buckingham Palace and was at the advice of His Royal Highness’ doctors. The prince is 98 years old and had been staying at Sandringham Estate before entering the hospital.
Queen Elizabeth II arrived at their private estate on Friday to set up for the royal family’s Christmas which is held their every year. Buckingham Palace reported that the Prince will be staying in the hospital for a couple of days to be tested. Prince Phillip did not arrive by ambulance as his visit was a planned admission. This is not the first time the royal has had to stay in the hospital as he has made several trips within the last couple of years. Back in 2011, the prince underwent an emergency procedure to fix a blocked artery. In 2012, the royal also had to be treated for a bladder infection.
Back in August of 2017, the prince decided to make the choice to retire from his public duties after serving the public and showing up to his royal engagements. Prince Phillip still appears with his wife and family when attending church services and family events but has yet to be seen in public since Lady Gabriella Kingston’s wedding back in May. During his younger years, the prince had been known to speak out of turn and say what was on his mind. The royal is a beloved icon who everyone hopes he makes it home for Christmas.
