HTC launched “BlinkFeed,” it’s one-stop-shop for news, social media and other content, not too long ago. But now it’s getting a new feature that some might not be too happy about. According to the company proper, HTC will be adding “promotions,” or promoted material, to its BlinkFeed service beginning today. The content will be populated from AdNetwork partners, which includes Yahoo!, Appia and Twitter. Of course, promotions for HTC’s own products, including accessories and phones, will also be shown off in the digital aggregator. The sponsored ads will look like any other tile within the BlinkFeed area, and there will even be “Buy Now” options for people to tap on if they’re so inclined. HTC did mention that there will be a way to opt-out of the ads in BlinkFeed, for what it’s worth. The new promotional materials will start showing up in some markets across the globe beginning today. That includes the United States, the UK, China, Taiwan and Germany. These initial launch countries will be the gauge for HTC to see if they’ll roll out the feature to other countries.
