Right now, Project Fi only has the Pixel and Pixel XL on sale to sign up for new service, which means customers have to fork over at least $650 to sign up. That may make the service unattainable for some potential customers. As a result, the official Project Fi Twitter account has posted a quick update on the matter, which may alleviate some concerns. The MVNO has confirmed that it will be introducing a “mid-tier price” phone later this year, but doesn’t go into much detail beyond that. Here’s the tweet, which is a reply to one information-seeking customer:

What’s more, the account confirmed that it will be coming from one of Google’s partners, but obviously doesn’t get into which one might be tapped to bring the mid-tier price phone to market. It’s certainly an interesting update, considering the phone choices for Project Fi up to this point haven’t been that . . . expansive. What’s more, we’ve seen companies like Huawei and OnePlus launch noteworthy, flagship phones in their own right, for mid-tier pricing, so we could see a fantastic device launched later this year — one that doesn’t immediately break the bank, either.
