The US government’s Emergency Alert System (EAS) is, unfortunately, probably best known for the false alarm in Hawaii back in January. Residents of the island were woken by a loud alarm sound and a message stating that ballistic missiles were on the way … The alert, automatically sent out to all compatible phones in Hawaii, even specifically stated ‘this is not a drill,’ causing widespread alarm. The Wireless Charging Consortium today announced a major update to the Qi Wireless Charging standard that will allow future Qi chargers to deliver up to 15W of power to your device. A key issue in the ongoing battle between Apple and Qualcomm is whether the chipmaker imposed unfair terms on Apple. Apple says yes, but an expert witness in the US Federal Trade Commission antitrust case against Qualcomm says that’s impossible. Universal Pictures has announced that principal filming of the Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle is now finally underway. WhoIs records show that Apple has purchased the domain PrivacyIsImportant.com, a domain which hasn’t previously been owned. The domain is not yet in use … The purchase was first spotted by DomainInvesting. The domain was registered yesterday, initially for one year. PrivacyIsImportant.com does not yet resolve to a website or any type of landing page. My guess is that Apple will use “privacy is important” as some sort of tag line and the domain name will forward to the relevant page within Apple’s website....
